Since 2023, Brett has been hosting figure drawing classes and sessions with live models all around the Tri-Cities, both solo and with Embodied Art Dance. Classes have been taught at the Bristol Public Library and Abingdon Arts Depot, and sessions without any teaching have been held at Embodied Art Dance events, the Bristol in Bloom Art Festival, and Yard pARTy. They have also modeled professionally for art classes at East Tennessee State University and the William King Art Lab and have been running their own private figure drawing group, Defining Bodies, since 2016.

Their goal is to make figure drawing more of a common, public practice, sharing their love of the immediacy of drawing live models directly in front of you in the company of others. Art is often a solitary practice, in a world where we're becoming increasingly isolated from each other and seeing more and more awful, AI-generated images and people seem to be disconnecting more and more from our own bodies. Brett believes that drawing other real people, in the company of others, can help to fight against that and build community.

If you'd love to have a figure drawing session or class held at your event, be it private or public, please reach out!

Brett has also created a new zine about Defining Bodies, how it was formed, and how others can form their own small art communities:
