Pouncepunk!

Hey everyone! We're just past a week into February, and the Pouncepunk art challenge by Richard Graves and I is in full swing! I made a dedicated gallery for it on here, and every morning I upload that day's new piece. Here are some of my favorites that I've done so far:

I'm kind of all over the place with these pieces, jumping from one medium to the next, trying to alternate between analogue and digital. It feels super inconsistent, but it keeps things interesting and hopefully keeps people engaged. I did get mad about my collage piece for Tuesday getting flagged and removed by Facebook though. It got flagged for nudity and sexuality, and I guess it registered the one small female presenting nipple there, or something. It's just...I hate it when social media takes down artwork simply for having naked human bodies, y'know?

Richard and I are pretty thrilled with the response so far, and even though it's tapered off after the first week, we're still seeing a lot of cool art from different folks all over on Instagram! If you check out the hashtag #pouncepunk22 over there, you'll see a pretty great variety!

I have about a five day lead right now, with a few more pieces started, so I'm just past the halfway mark myself. It's been a little tiring, but it's still a rush, especially seeing what others are making. Finished work gets posted ahead of time on my Patreon, if you don't feel like waiting. Just a dollar a month will get you so much content, plus a postcard with a doodle on it!

As far as trying to make a living goes...well, it's better than last month, but still slow. I'm getting a few Etsy sales here and there! I've got some commission work I'm doing in between Pouncepunk prompts, and, most exciting for me personally, I've started modeling for a figure drawing class once or twice a week at ETSU! I'll say it has been a bit surreal being back on campus for the first time in over a decade(!), and in the art building I practically lived in as a student, but it's been an enjoyable experience. It's also been a nice refresher for me to listen to the professor teach while I pose, so I get to do some learning myself.

I've also got some show stuff lined up, but it's too early to talk about any of that. ETSUcon in April for sure, plus some of the things I hinted at last month will be coming to fruition.

Figure drawing is going well too, but I don't have anything from that to show right now, sorry.

That's all for now, I guess. I'll write again once Pouncepunk is over! Gotta get back at it!
